In the 1960s in Maskeliya, at 7.30 a.m. at the end of Richard Lancaster's birthday party, a planter got into his car on the main road in front of the bungalow and complained that he could not find the ignition switch in which to insert the key. His wife, sitting in the front seat, said, "You silly fool, you are in the back seat!" Mind you, the fact that the steering wheel etc, were missing did not register. What made it worse was that he immediately opened the door and stepped out - into a 5' deep V drain next to which he had parked the car the evening before!
